Tata Chemicals Limited bags CII National Award for Excellence in Water Management 2008

Tata Chemicals Limited’s facilities have been awarded the much-coveted CII National Award for Excellence in Water Management 2008 at a recently held award function at Hyderabad. Shri Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Hon’ble Minister for Major Irrigation and Medium Irrigation, Andhra Pradesh Government, presented the awards.

Two of TCL’s facilities, namely Mithapur and Babrala, won “Excellent Water Efficient unit – Beyond Fence” and “Excellent Water Efficient Unit – Within the Fence” respectively. In addition to this, Tata Chemicals also bagged award for ‘Most Useful Presentation’ at the function.

Speaking on the development, Mr. R Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals Limited said, “Receiving these accolades adds to our commitment and dedication towards such initiatives. Tata Chemicals has been undertaking these water conservation and management initiatives regularly and receiving recognition from industry helps us raise the bar every year.”

The “National Award for Excellence in Water Management” is organised by CII – Godrej GBC. The objective of the Award Scheme is to recognise and award “Excellence” in Water Management in industries ‘within the fence and beyond fence’ and facilitate sharing of information by excellent water efficient companies.

Two categories of awards were given this year: Category A: Award for Excellence in Water Management – ‘Within the fence’ to recognise the water management initiatives within the facility / industry. Category B: Award for Excellence in Water Management – ‘Beyond the fence’ to recognise the leadership role in implementing water and watershed management projects with the involvement of public/private agencies and community.
