Tata Chemicals Europe receives top industry award

Tata Chemicals Europe has been recognised for its contribution to the chemical industry after receiving the Chemicals Northwest Chairman’s Special Award.

At the annual awards ceremony held by Chemicals Northwest, which is a cluster organisation supporting the chemical industry in Northwest England, the company was also commended highly for the design and installation of a new distiller at the soda ash plant at the Winnington site.

The Chairman’s Award is given to a company which has shown a strong regional and sector commitment and has had success in national and global markets. It also acknowledges a number of key aspects of the company’s operation including growth, investment and continuous improvement.

Presenting the award Len Sharp, board member, Chemicals Northwest, , said:

“Tata Chemicals Europe has shown a huge commitment to inward investment. It has an important position both within the region and the sector’s supply chain. As a global business it maintains a local commitment and focus, and really deserves the recognition given through this award.”

The highly commended award was given in the sustainability category for reducing energy consumption and making operational and maintenance savings from the new soda ash distiller installed in 2011.

Martin Ashcroft, managing director, Tata Chemicals Europe, added: “It is a great honour to be recognised for your work and to receive the Chairman’s Award as it is bestowed by Chemicals Northwest. Everyone who works at our sites in Northwich and Middlewich can feel justly proud that their work and achievements have been acknowledged by their peers.”
