Tata Chemicals launches a high performance Cement in Gujarat – Tata Shudh 53 Grade O.P.C
TATA Shudh 53 Grade O.P.C. (Ordinary Portland Cement) with superior comprehensive strength is ideal for General structural works like Residential Buildings, Malls and other infrastructural works.
Ahmedabad, May 28, 2019: Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL), a world-class manufacturer of basic chemistry products (Soda Ash, Sodium Bicarbonate) and a leader in India through its Consumer and Specialty Chemicals, today launched high performance, O.P.C. 53 grade- Tata Shudh Cement in the state of Gujarat. Tata Shudh O.P.C 53 Grade far exceeds the quality norms and specification prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards and is produced at its state-of-the-art plant in Mithapur. It will be available through a well-knit distribution network across the state of Gujarat in Ahmedabad, Kutch, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Porbandar and Junagarh.
The newly launched O.P.C. 53 Grade has consistent compressive strength. Its optimum particle size distribution and high ?neness enhances workability with proper water-cement ratio ensuring dense and durable concrete. This high-grade cement will speed up the construction activities saving time and overheads, resulting in savings for users.

The cement manufacturing unit of Tata Chemicals, Mithapur, is a part of its Main Soda Ash Plant at Mithapur. It was established in 1993 and deploys modern dry process technology. The Limestone used is the same limestone procured for its Soda Ash unit, which is of exceptional grade having 93 - 98 % purity against the required 70 - 75 % for cement plants. Also, the Gypsum used is of very high-grade. As per the production data obtained from the official site of the Economic Advisor, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Cement industry has shown a CAGR of over 5% in the year 2018-19 from 2014-15 (Apr-Nov). India is the second largest cement producing country after China having an installed cement capacity of approximately 500 million tonnes according to Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA) India. As per India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), the cement industry is expected to reach 550-600 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) by the year 2025 due to the increasing demand in various sectors such as housing, commercial construction and industrial construction.
