Tata Chemicals’ Mambattu Facility Honoured for Cutting-Edge Water and Energy Efficiency at EXCEED Green Future Award

Mambattu | August 29, 2023: Tata Chemicals Limited’s Mambattu unit was honoured with the “Gold Award” at the 14th EXCEED Green Future Award & Conference 2023, held, in Lucknow last week. This recognition was presented in the Water Management and Energy Efficiency category within the Food & Beverages Sector.

The award applauds the company's efforts in water and energy efficiency practices at the Mambattu plant. Noteworthy initiatives by Tata Chemicals include the installation of two solar dryers to treat hazardous waste produced by the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), resulting in a reduction of waste generation from 479 MT to 222 MT within 11 months of operation, which is by 53%. Additionally, a condensate recovery system was implemented to reclaim steam condensate from the manufacturing process. The unit also installed 1.9 MW floating solar panel, which is one of the largest in the industrial sector. The plant meets 20% of its power requirement through the solar panel and has also successfully implemented a zero liquid discharge mechanism.
