Tata Chemicals Limited has bagged four awards from the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) in the award ceremony held recently at Delhi. TCL — Haldia won the "Best Production Performance Award – Single Super Phosphate Plant" and "Environment Protection Award – Single Super Phosphate (SSP)", while TCL — Babrala won the "Excellence in Safety and the Best Technical Innovation Award".

Said Mr. Kapil Mehan, COO, Fertiliser Business, "Public acknowledgement in the form of FAI awards is a motivation for our teams to carry on our journey towards excellence to emerge as a global benchmark manufacturing site at our Babrala fertiliser complex."

This is the third time that the Haldia plant has been awarded for its SSP operations. Said Mr. V Shankar, COO, Phosphates Business, "Receiving the FAI award for the best overall performance of the SSP plant three times in a row is an emphatic endorsement of the superior operating efficiencies at Haldia. What is very encouraging and rewarding is the acknowledgement in environment protection — a focus area for the company."

The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) organises an annual seminar every year in the month of December where stalwarts from the Indian fertiliser industry as well as foreign delegates from industry participate. The award ceremony was held during the FAI seminar, which commenced on December 8, 2004, and was inaugurated by the Minister for the Department of Fertiliser and Chemicals, Government of India.

Said Mr. Prasad Menon, MD, Tata Chemicals, "It is indeed a great achievement to have bagged four awards at FAI. It only accentuates our business strength as a company that is growing and underlines our basic philosophy as being a company that cares."
