Tata Chemicals awarded Sustainable Plus, the world's first corporate sustainability label by CII

Mumbai: Tata Chemicals, India's leading manufacturer of chemicals, fertiliser and food additives as well as the second largest soda ash producer in the world, has been awarded Sustainable Plus, the world's first corporate sustainability label by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Based on a methodology that is globally recognised and suited to Indian markets, the company has been recognised as Sustainable Plus in the Platinum category by CII.

On receiving the certification, R Mukundan, managing director, TCL, commented, "TCL is committed to achieve the highest performance standards in the areas of sustainability, safety, service and quality. The roots of being sustainable and contributing to social needs are embedded in our value system, which is also validated by our mission 'Serving Society through Science'. This recognition will energise us further in our continuous journey of sustainable development."

Sustainable Plus is a brand identity created by CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. The label aims at communicating to consumers, investors and business partners that the company is sustainable, responsible and well-governed.

For this recognition, information was gathered from public sources on more than 100 indicators spread across environment, social and governance parameters. The analysis of the recognition received enables companies to improve all aspects of performance such as reduce risks and costs, identify market opportunities and improve competitive advantage.
