Tata Chemicals achieves ISO 27001 Certification

Tata Chemicals has been awarded ISO 27001 Certification by BSI Management Systems. ISO 27001 is a milestone in Tata Chemicals' endeavour to secure its information flow and bring about sensitivity in all stake holders about importance of information and knowledge flowing across organisation.Said Mr. R Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals Limited, “Information Security is vitally important to organisations today in the sort of competitive world we live in, where knowledge is power and information gives competitive advantage.”

This certification is applicable pan India and covers 10 sites — the plants at Mithapur, Babrala and Haldia and the offices across India.

Information Security according to ISO 27001 standard means, ”To correctly protect an organisation’s proprietary information and information systems (Confidentiality), maintain its authenticity (Integrity), and assure its effective use when necessary (Availability).” With this target, TCL launched an internal campaign named ‘Project Suraksha’ in August 2007 to update the people and processes of the organisation for this certification and achieved this milestone in just one year.
