Tata Chemicals signs MoU with the Institute of Chemical Technology to set up endowment chair of Rs3.5 crore

Mumbai: Tata Chemicals signed an MoU with the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT, erstwhile UDCT) for creating an endowment chair - Tata Chemicals Darbari Seth Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering. In line with the company's leading role in recognising exceptional individuals from the chemical engineering teaching fraternity, Tata Chemicals will be donating Rs3.5 crore as an endowment fund to help set up the chair professor's position.

 

R Mukundan, MD, Tata Chemicals, said, "At Tata Chemicals, we follow the ethos of serving the nation, community, employees and then finally the business. It is in this endeavour that, besides other initiatives, we look closely at various opportunities to further strengthen the industry-academia relationship. Our partnership with ICT will help to inspire and motivate teachers in the field of chemical engineering whilst recognising exceptional individuals in this field. This platform is our tribute to exemplary teachers who have contributed towards the promotion of chemistry and science in the country and as a part of our lives."

 

Tata Chemicals has agreed to collaborate with ICT on several new initiatives such as conducting research and development programmes with a focus on sustainability, green chemistry, undertaking projects at ICT based on chemical technology related challenges, highlighting career opportunities in chemical engineering and more.

Tata Chemicals has also launched a nationwide annual initiative, 'Best Chemistry Teacher Award', to recognise exemplary individuals involved in the teaching and promotion of chemistry and its allied components.
