Babrala plant de-bottlenecking process: A tribute to the group founder — Mr JN Tata

Tata Chemicals Ltd., a leading manufacturer of chemicals, fertilisers and food additives, today announced the successful commissioning of the de-bottlenecking of their Babrala facility and dedicated this initiative to its group founder, Mr JN Tata on the occasion of Founders’ Day.

The project was completed in a record time of 18 months with an investment of Rs 208 crore, aimed at fine tuning and enhancing production capabilities thereby expanding the existing production levels.

The increased growth of production draws impetus to the company commitment of providing high quality products for its discerning customers. With this the production capability of the Babrala fertilizer increases from 8,64,600 mt to 11,55,000 mt per year.

Post the de-bottlenecking process, the new production capacity at the plant will be as follows:
  • Ammonia plant will produce 2000 mtpd as compared to 1520 mtpd
  • Urea plant will produce 3500 mtpd as compared to 2620 mtpd
Speaking on the occasion Mr Kapil Mehan, executive director, Tata Chemicals Limited, said, “On the momentous occasion of ‘Founders’ Day’, we dedicate the successful commissioning of the Babrala plant to the farmers of the nation.
