Mumbai: Purified drinking water is a must, and the most basic right of every citizen. Today, on World Water Day, an ideal platform to propagate this important message, Tata Chemicals, the creators of Tata Swach — the world’s most economical water purifier, joined hands with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to launch a week-long road show 'Tata Swach wake up for water’. This road show will travel across Mumbai city from March 22 to 28, 2011, to create awareness on the need and importance of clean drinking water.

Flagged off by the first citizen of Mumbai, Shraddha Jadhav, mayor of Mumbai, from her official residence at Shivaji Park, this road show will cover various markets, colleges, housing societies, office complexes and other areas with high footfall, from Bandra to Borivali.

During the week-long exercise, awareness centres will be set up across prominent malls, to interact with people and influence them to undertake a 'water pledge' via a signature campaign and they expect to target 100,000 people.

The road show will also engage Mumbaikars through competitions of photography and ideas on water issues. This compilation of photographs and recommendations generated will be handed over to Ms Jadhav.
