International Whale Shark Day 2025 – Veraval, Gujarat

Tata Chemicals celebrated the International Whale Shark Day on 30th August in Veraval, Gujarat. Since 2004, TCSRD has been working in association with WTI and the Gujarat Forest Department to save the world’s largest fish – Whale Shark. Till date, 987 whale sharks have been released back into the Arabian Sea with the collective efforts of volunteers and local fishermen.

During this year’s celebrations, a variety of interactive activities happened — including rallies, skits, the Vhali Watcher App, and heartfelt felicitations of those who continue to save lives at sea. Adding to the joy, one of our satellite-tagged whale sharks completed its journey from Veraval to Lakshadweep and back.
