TCSRD organises Krushi Mahotsav in Dwarka to promote sustainable farming

Mithapur, 10th January 2020: Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD), in association with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Farmers Training Centre Jamnagar, organised Krushi Mahotsav in Dwarka today to promote sustainable farming.

The event was attended by about 1,800 farmers from four blocks of Devbhumi Dwarka. The event also had 26 exhibition stalls of various entities selling seeds, agrochemicals, organic products, and farm equipment as well as firms supporting horticulture and animal husbandry.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Pabubha Manek, M.L.A., Dwarka, in the presence of Shri D. J. Jadeja (I.A.S.), District Development Officer, Devbhumi Dwarka and Mr. N. Kamath, Vice President (Manufacturing), Tata Chemicals.

Shri K. P. Barreya, a scientist from Krushi Vigyan Kendra, Jamnagar, delivered a speech on integrated crop management. Mr. Dharmendra Gadhvi, Chairman of OFPCL, spoke about institution building and the role of farmer producer organisation in agriculture development. Shri Akash Chauhan spoke on importance of digital farming agriculture development and Mr Satish Trivedi, Deputy Manager, CSR, Tata Chemicals, on protection of pollinators.

The event also recognised progressive farmers in the Okhamandal area and a total of 12 farmers were awarded for their efforts and innovation in agriculture and animal husbandry under various categories like best progressive farmer and best innovative farmer. All participating farmers were presented with a bottle of waste decomposer to promote organic farming.

Commenting on the success of the event, Mr. N. Kamath, Vice President (Manufacturing), Tata Chemicals Ltd., Mithapur, said, “Tata Chemicals has always been a pioneer in the sustainability front and we always promote sustainable forms of farming. Through this event, we have tried to enable and educate the farmers on sustainable farming and its benefits. It is exciting for us to see participation of the farmers in such great numbers and seeing them engage and participate actively in various activities. We will continue to empower the farmers and continue to promote sustainability in the future as well.”

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri K. D. Panchal (Niyamak, Sameti and State Nodal Officer, ATMA Gandhinagar), Shri S. K. Joshi (Sanyukat Kheti Niyamak, Rajkot), Shri Akash Chauhan, Shri A. B. Kamani, District Agriculture Officer, Devbhumi Dwarka and Shri N. A Kalavadiya, Project Director, ATMA, Devbhumi Dwarka.
