Tata Chemicals steps up its efforts against COVID-19 pandemic

  • Augmentation of hospital facility; Flu Screening Centre at Mithapur Hospital
  • Donates Rs. 50 lakhs to the Gujarat CM Relief Fund
  • Conducts mass awareness sessions in nearby villages
  • Offers food to under-privileged members

Mithapur, 17th April 2020: In view of the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Tata Chemicals has taken several pro-active steps to deal with the situation keeping in mind the safety and well-being of all the employees, local community and stakeholders.

Under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Tata Chemicals is running several welfare programmes in and around Mithapur locality to deal with the COVID-19 situation.

The Mithapur Hospital, which is run by Tata Chemicals and is located inside the Tata Chemicals Township in Mithapur, has set-up a Flu Screening Centre that is working round the clock since 18th March 2020. Besides screening all flu-related cases and counseling by doctors, the Mithapur Hospital is also providing free medicines.

Continuing its efforts on the medical emergency preparedness front, the Company has also converted school into a quarantine facility as part of augmentation of hospital facilities

Using a tent, the hospital has built a temporary waiting area near the entry gate in the hospital premise in order to maintain the social distancing norms among the visiting OPD patients, Besides, a separate OPD has been established for general patients. The hospital has also kept ambulances ready with all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and proper trainings have also been given to ambulance drivers and paramedics involved in the preparation.

Lending monetary support to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the State, Tata Chemicals has donated INR 50 lakhs to the Gujarat Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Tata Chemicals is distributing food packets to the under-privileged members of the society in the nearby areas. The Company is working on this front under the guidance of the District Administration. The company is supplying Sodium Hypochlorite to Jamanagar, Porbandar, Khambhaliya, Salaya Muncipal corporations to enable them to sanitize the areas in addition to supply of Hypo solution to 43 villages around Mithapur. The Company has also been undertaking regular sanitization activities in Mithapur and nearby areas like Okha Nagar Palika, Dwaraka Nagarpalika, Dwaraka Temple, Surajkaradi panchayat, Mithapur Township, District Offices & Police stations of Khambhaliya.

To create awareness among the local community about the COVID-19 and related precaution and safety measures, Tata Chemicals has been conducting awareness sessions since the second week of March 2020 and so far 40 villages have been reached out under the Company’s community engagement programme.
