Tata Chemicals' Arup Basu elected new vice chairman of CII Maharashtra state council

Mumbai: Dr Arup Basu, president — new businesses and innovation centre, Tata Chemicals, has been elected as the new vice chairman of the CII Maharashtra state council with effect from today.

As a president at Tata Chemicals, Dr Basu is responsible for new businesses, corporate strategy and the company's Innovation Centre. Prior to this Dr Basu served as the chief operating officer of Chemicals - Indian operations at Tata Chemicals and also served as vice president of the manufacturing units.

Prior to his association with Tata Chemicals, Dr Basu was at Accenture, where he was responsible for business development and managing large-scale projects for clients in the industrial space.

Dr Basu holds a PhD in Composite Materials from UMIST, Manchester, and a B.Eng in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London.
