Tata Chemicals Europe restructures its Northwich business

Mumbai: Tata Chemicals Europe (Tata Chemicals Europe ), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Chemicals, has decided to restructure its soda ash and sodium bicarbonate business in Northwich, Cheshire.

The restructuring will see the closure of the Winnington soda ash and calcium chloride plants due to high energy costs. Production is expected to cease during the 4th quarter of the financial year 2013-14. The closures, though regretted, are necessary in order to secure the future of Tata Chemicals Europe ’s remaining soda ash and sodium bicarbonate manufacturing business together with around 250 jobs directly and many more associated jobs in the local Cheshire and wider regional economy.
