Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development organises sports meet in Mithapur
Over 200 youths participated in the Okhamandal Khel Mahotsav
Mithapur, November 23, 2019: Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) today organised Okhamandal Khel Mahotsav to promote physical fitness and sporting culture among the youths in the region. The athletic event in Mithapur witnessed participation of over 200 youths from various villages of Okhamandal in different competitions like running races and in jumping and throwing.
Okhamandal Khel Mahotsav, organised for the first time, was held at the Golden Jubilee Cricket Ground on Saturday evening. Preliminary round of this competition was held on 16th-17th November that saw participation of around 400 youths, including 50 girls. Mr N Kamath, Vice President (Manufacturing), Tata Chemicals, Mithapur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Today’s sports festival was organised by a team of local youths with the support of Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development. Tata Chemicals has been engaging youths in a very holistic manner. In the past, a cricket tournament and a job fair was also organized to give a platform to youths aged between 14 and 35 years.
Mr N Kamath, VP, Manufacturing, Tata Chemicals, Mithapur, said, “The Okhamandal Khel Mahotsav has inspired hundreds of youths in the Mithapur region to incorporate fitness into their lifestyle. Mithapur has always had an encouraging sports culture. Tata Chemicals has been organizing various youth centric programmes and this sports activity was the result of all the hard work put in by participants and the organising team. I sincerely thank and congratulate everybody who came forward to make this a wonderful and memorable event.”
