Tata Chemicals renovates health centre in Okha

Increases the mobility of critical patients, donates an ambulance

Mithapur, November 25th, 2021: Tata Chemicals has been at the forefront to serve the community and contribute towards developing the health infrastructure during the difficult times of COVID-19. Continuing with its efforts, Tata Chemicals through its CSR arm, Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) renovated the Okha Urban Health Centre and equipped it with modern amenities. It also donated an ambulance which will help to mobilise critical patients in case of emergencies from town to city. This facility will cater to nearly 25 to 30 thousand local community members in and around Okha.

Inauguration of the refurbished Okha Urban Health Centre and the ambulance donation was done by chief guest, Shri. Pabuba Manek in the presence of, guest of honor Mr. D.J. Jadeja (IAS) , DDO – Devbhumi Dwarka, Dr. Raj Sutharia Chief District health officer , Dr Chirag RCHO, and Mr. Ashok Dani, Head- Projects and Technical services, Tata Chemicals Mithapur.

The company also renovated the labour room that aims to assist expecting mothers with proper hygiene care in order to reduce the maternal & infant mortality rate. A toilet has also been constructed for the labour room separately. Thus by renovating the facility, Tata Chemicals has taken a step towards improving the healthcare infrastructure of the region.

Addressing the locals and employees at the event, Shri. Manek said, “Tata Chemicals has continued to work towards the wellbeing of the local community with its initiatives, and stood in the front line to extend its support for the local medical treatment and facilities in Okhamandal area. We appreciate its contribution towards the welfare of the community.”

The health centre has 10 beds with individual oxygen connection, a vaccination room, dressing room, store room with proper light and water supply. The facility has been entirely renovated and is also equipped with oxygen to manage critical patients in case of an emergency & covid care. The primary focus was to ensure that the community has access to a proper hygienic health facility.
