Tata Chemicals organises Marathon Day in Mithapur
Promotes healthy lifestyle & fitness in the Saurashtra region
Mithapur, 29th December, 2019: Tata Chemicals today, organised 24th Half Marathon at Mithapur as a part of their annual initiative to promote physical fitness and sport as a culture in the Saurashtra region. The half marathon (21.3 Kms) organised for men and 7 Kms non-competitive race for women witnessed an enthralling participation of over 1000 people from Mithapur and surrounding villages. The first 91 runners that completed half marathon were awarded prizes and certificates by the company.
Commenting on the success of Marathon Day Mr. N. Kamath, VP- Manufacturing, Tata Chemicals Ltd., Mithapur said, “I am pleased to see the people of Mithapur and nearby villages proactively participating in this Half Marathon. Tata Chemicals has been organising this event since the last two decades and participation has almost doubled since the inception of this event. It is exciting for us to witness women participation in great numbers in the non-competitive race and this is a great example of diversity being showcased through this activity undertaken by the company. This event is not merely a competition but, a method for us to encourage the locals to take up physical fitness as a part of their daily lifestyle. We, at Tata Chemicals take pride in positively contributing to better lives of the communities living in and around us. Introduced in 1995, this marathon is organised by Tata Chemicals annually for the locals in the memory of former plant head, Late Shri Prabhakar who worked with Tata Chemicals for over 25 years and was fond of sports & fitness. To continue his legacy and endorse sports as a culture, this marathon has encouraged locals to adapt fitness in their daily lives.

People have become more fitness conscious and are imbibing a healthy way of living.
