Tata Chemicals in association with TCIT provides oxygen support to Dwarka Hospital in Mithapur, Gujarat

Tata Chemicals & TCIT donate 10 oxygen concentrators and set up oxygen pipelines for 100 beds

Mithapur, July 30th, 2021: In the fight against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Tata Chemicals has been working towards the safety and well-being of communities. The company through its CSR arm, Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) in association with Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT), donated 10 oxygen concentrators with five-liter capacity each to the Dwarka Hospital situated near Mithapur, Gujarat.

The oxygen concentrators were handed over by Ms Alka Talwar, Head – CSR & Sustainability and Dr. Sanjeev Bhatnagar, Head – Medical Service at Tata Chemicals to Dr. Vipin Chandarana, Suprintendent at Government Hospital Dwarka. Tata Chemicals has also worked on setting up an oxygen pipeline for 100 beds, out of which 20 beds will be reserved for pediatrics. With the vision of serving society, Tata Chemicals is providing oxygen concentrators to help patients with breathing difficulty whose oxygen saturation is lower than 85 in mild to moderately serious cases of Covid-19.

Commenting on this initiative, Ms. Alka Talwar, Head – CSR & Sustainability, Tata Chemicals, said, “At Tata Chemicals, we believe in responding to the emergency with agility. The safety and well-being of our communities has always been a key priority for us. We have launched various initiatives to provide support and overcome the challenges through collaborative efforts and shall continue to lead such welfare initiatves to stand strong in the fight against the pandemic”

Tata Chemicals also donated five oxygen concentrators (10 Litre per Minute capacity) to the Cuddalore district administration in Tamil Nadu and five oxygen concentrators to the authorities in Mambattu village, located in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Tata Chemicals has undertaken several initiatives in the fight against COVID-19 such as regular sanitisation activities in Mithapur, supplying disinfectants, making masks, augmenting medical facilities, and raising awareness amongst the communities. During this time, TCSRD also leveraged the expertise of the company to introduce products such as veg-fruit wash and multi surface cleaner both containing active Nano Zinc Oxide with anti-viral and antimicrobial properties. These were launched with the mission of empowering underprivileged women, facing challenges due to the situation.

In order to support the government to successfully carry out the vaccination drive, TCSRD has been carrying out awareness campign about covid through wall scripture , pamphlets distribution, vaccination promotion through LODO method. It has also recently trained all ASHA workers of okhamandal tehsil in their role as frontline Covid Warriors and has provided them with kits containing oxypulse meter , BP instrument and Thermal gun, gloves , for curative measures.
