B Sudhakar, chief human resources officer

B Sudhakar is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Chemicals Limited. The various functions namely Corporate Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Corporate Administration, Knowledge Management, Sustainability (SHE) and Community Development come under his domain and report to him.

He has worked in various industries like electronics, pharmaceuticals, steel, fertilisers, chemicals and infocomm, in different capacities, and at reputed organisations like Samtel, Ceat, SOL Pharmaceuticals, Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Reliance Infocomm - before joining Tata Chemicals in February 2002.

A postgraduate in business management from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) at Ghaziabad, India, Mr Sudhakar has done extensive work in HR policy formulation, communications, designing innovative people processes, integrated performance management, as well as rewards and recognition systems. He has experience in HR, due diligence, as well as communications and integration in mergers and acquisitions, apart from work in the area of applied behavioural sciences.

An avid speaker, he is a regular lecturer at the Tata Management and Training Centre (TMTC), and is often a guest speaker at seminars and conferences. Mr Sudhakar is a member of the expert panel on HR in the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). He is also a member of the conference board of the Asia council of Human Resources, and the All India Management Association (AIMA).
