Tata Chemicals second quarter net dips by 8.32 per cent to Rs 43.4 crore

Tata Chemicals has reported an 8.3-per-cent decline in net profit to Rs 43.4 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, ’01, compared with Rs 47.3 crore during the corresponding period last year. Net sales for the quarter were also lower at Rs 388 crore against Rs 458 crore a year ago. Gross profit (before interest, depreciation and tax) was at Rs 121.7 crore against Rs 131.3 crore. While interest for the period was lower at Rs 30.8 crore against Rs 40.2 crore, depreciation was at Rs 33 crore, compared with Rs 33.5 crore. The company has reported a 30 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 56.6 crore during the first six months against Rs 43.5 crore in the same period last year.
