Taking manufacturing
beyond world class

Mr. Alok Tyagi, Head of Strategy and Business
Development, Tata Chemicals, addressed the Goa Management
Association (GMA) at its 28th Annual General Meeting in Panaji,
Goa on September 20
Mr. Tyagi, delivering the keynote address, said, "Success
of a company is its low-end outcomes, helping it to go from
world class to beyond world class. Those who plan early, aiming
success with committment can reach beyond world class."
"The heart of 'beyond world class' lies also in relationships
and finally it's the question of character setting that is
important," he added.
"Instead of making assumptions, which are not always
true, we should bother to ask the customers what actually
they want. What is important is how you ensure customer success
in the market as beyond world class companies have always
been aligned with the customers," stated Mr. Tyagi.
During his presentation to the GMA, he also added that focus
on continuous improvement and commitment to excellence were
some of the key elements to raise the level of manufacturing
in India.
Mr. Srinivas Dempo, president of the GMA, also addressed
the gathering. Hailing the revival of the Association's activities,
Mr. Dempo said that he believed a change in management and
logistics would definitely help the manufacturing sector and
knowing the framework of manufacturing would aid the members
of the GMA gain a better grip on the sector.
