Usage
guidelines

Efficacy
of urea is better when soil surface is plain. |
 |
Urea
should be drilled in the furrows. In heavy
soils under water stagnation, urea prills
are placed four inches into the soil to minimise
losses. |
 |
If
urea is broad casted by hand, it should be
mixed with the soil. |
 |
Controlled
and mild irrigation should be given after
or before the application of urea. |
 |
Urea
doses to be given in two to three splits.
In long duration crops, doses could be split
further. |
 |
The
efficiency of urea increases when it is mixed
with 'neemcake' or coating form of neem.
|
 |
Soil
testing is done to determine the crop-specific
need of nitrogen in the form of urea. |
 |
Soil
moisture at its 'field capacity' is the ideal
moisture level for urea application. Variations
in moisture level can affect the efficacy
to the extent of 60-80 per cent. |
 |
For
most crops, two per cent of urea water solution
is sprayed over them. However, in the case
of sugarcane it is five per cent. |
