Tata Chemicals' state-of-the-art cement plant in Mithapur in Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day, manufactures cement using, as a raw material, the by-products and rejects obtained from the production of soda ash

The area around Mithapur is rich in limestone. Given the region's proximity to the sea, salt is also found here in abundance. Lime and salt are the main ingredients in the production of soda ash. The manufacturing process for soda ash leaves behind a large quantity of unutilised limestone and calcium products in the slurry.

In order to utilise these rejects and unutilised limestone, TCL has put up a modern cement plant at Mithapur. Tata Chemicals manufactures cement in the following three grades and sells them under the brand name 'Shudh' cement:

i. Ordinary Portland Cement -Grade-53

ii. Ordinary Portland Cement-Grade-43

iii. Pozzolana Portland Cement

All three grades of Tata Chemicals' cement products are made in the a modern plant with state-of-the-art technology, which includes quality control at every stage of the production process with an online x-ray analyser. This ensures a high level of consistency of quality in the manufacturing process.

Clearly the cement varieties from the TCL stable deliver a quality advantage which customers can depend and build-on.
