Tata Chemicals
Limited has organised a run-cum-walk for peace
and harmony to express their condolence for the
Gujarats bomb blasts victims. This run will
take place in Mithapur on August 15th 2008. All
the residents of Mithapur are going to be a part
of this noble cause.
The Run is being organized as part
of series of activities to pay homage to the blast
victims. The Run will start at 7.00 am from three
locations viz. Mithapur Beach, Housing Flats and
Hostel Complex. The Peace Walk will conclude at
Zhanda Chowk, where all children will be received
by the spectators followed by flag hoisting. Approximately
800 children are expected to be a part of this
run.
Prior to the run for Peace and Harmony,
a drawing competition for children was also organized
on August 11th 2008 at various schools in Mithapur.
The participating schools for this competition
were KPS, MHS, Nutun Balshikshan and Gujarati
Shala. The topic for the same was Terror
of Terrorism. The winners of the competition
will also be announced on August 15th after the
walk. The prize distribution will be organized
at Sea Beach. Besides this all drawings made by
the participating children will be exhibited on
15th August at the function.
On the occasion Mr. M Jacob,

to run a series of events on the occasion of Independence
Day, our aim is to spread the message of
Peace and Harmony. Students are the backbone of
a country hence it is very essential for them
to imbibe these qualities of Peace and Harmony.

to leverage its expertise in Chemistry & Agriculture,
together with its in-house research capabilities
in biology and crop genomics to develop a significant

Centre was created in mid 2004 to develop world-class
R&D capability in the emerging areas of nanotechnology
and biotechnology.
In early 2008 TCL successfully completed the acquisition
of General Chemical Industrial Products, (GCIP).General
Chemical's subsidiary, General Chemical (Soda
Ash) Partners (GCSAP), is one of the largest Soda
Ash producers in the USA with a capacity of 2.5
million TPA of natural Soda Ash. The Companys
mining and manufacturing facilities located at
Green River Basin in Wyoming, USA, are assets
of a very high quality, providing access to some
of the worlds largest and most economically
recoverable trona ore deposits that are then converted
to Soda Ash. The acquisition of GCIP takes TCLs
global Soda Ash capacity to around 5.5 Million
Tonnes per annum.
Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) set up the Tata Chemicals
Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) in 1980
to promote its social objectives for the communities
in and around Mithapur, where its facility is
located. This service was further extended to
the communities in and around its Babrala and
Haldia facilities.
