: Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL), part of the
Tata Group, has been conferred with the prestigious
Award for Excellence in the field
of Industrial Relations for the year
2007 by the Federation of Gujarat Industries,
Vadodara. The recently held award function witnessed
the presence of various Corporates, who excelled
in their respective spheres of practice and have
distinctly evolved in the defined categories.
Mr. Satish Anand, Head HR, Tata Chemicals Ltd.
(Mithapur) received the award on behalf of the
Company from former President of India, Mr. APJ
Abdul Kalam.
Over the years, TCL has conclusively
surpassed and improved upon all the criteria laid
down by FGI, paving its way to this successful
achievement. In view of TCLs principles
and values and its single-minded devotion to a
well planned and effective Human Relations Programme,
it has resulted in the organisation not having
a single days production loss due to workers
unrest since more than fifty years.
On receiving the award, Mr. Satish
Anand, Head HR, Tata Chemicals Ltd. (Mithapur),
said, We are truly honoured to receive this
prestigious award from our former Excellency Mr.
APJ Abdul Kalam. This is yet another feather in
our cap and we shall constantly strive to set
benchmarks in various segments with vision, innovation,
competitiveness and sustenance.

US$ 28.8 B Tata Group, Tata Chemicals Limited
(TCL) today is the second largest producer of
Soda Ash in the world with manufacturing facilities

provider, to set up a fruits and vegetables distribution
business in India. TCL also plans to leverage
its expertise in Chemistry & Agriculture,
together with its in-house research capabilities
in biology and crop genomics to develop a significant
presence in Bio fuels space. The TCL Innovation
Centre was created in mid 2004 to develop world-class
R&D capability in the emerging areas of nanotechnology
and biotechnology.
In early 2008 TCL successfully completed
the acquisition of General Chemical Industrial
Products, (GCIP).General Chemical's subsidiary,
General Chemical (Soda Ash) Partners (GCSAP),
is one of the largest Soda Ash producers in the
USA with a capacity of 2.5 million TPA of natural
Soda Ash. The Company's mining and manufacturing
facilities located at Green River Basin in Wyoming,
USA, are assets of a very high quality, providing
access to some of the world's largest and most
economically recoverable trona ore deposits that
are then converted to Soda Ash. The acquisition
of GCIP takes TCL's global Soda Ash capacity to
around 5.5 Million Tonnes per annum.
