At a function on January 8, 2008
the team from Tata Chemicals (TCL) was judged
as the national winners of the In-house track
of the Tata Business Leadership Awards (TBLA)
2008. This was the first year that TBLA was thrown
open to Tata employees.
Mr. Ratan Tata graced the occasion
and handed out the trophy and award. The winning
TCL team consisted of Amitabh Tapadar, Mohammad
Altaf, Anand Sinha and Madhur Vaghela. The team
received a cheque of Rs 1 lakh, the coveted TBLA
rolling trophy and a host of other prizes for
their presentation of a business plan on 'Water
distribution in large urban cities'.
TBLA brings the best minds across
the globe to take up a business challenge. This
is usually a strategic problem or situation relevant
to the Tata Group. This business case competition
aims to provide opportunities to Tata Group employees
to present ideas on the future direction for the
Group. This year participants were invited to
identify 'Global growth opportunities for the
Tata Group'.
The 1st runner-up was HVTL (Heavy
Vehicles Transmission), Jamshedpur. The team consisted
of P Sant Prasad, Sabas Fernando, Snajay Kumar
Singh and Soumik Chatterjee.
The 2nd runner-up was TCS, USA.
The team consisted of Prabhat Kumar Asthana, Vikrant
Neogi and Devendra Kumar Singh.
